Canadian Lynx

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been busy with wedding, graphic novel and freelance stuff. Maybe I should change the name of the blog to 'An Animal Every Couple Months.'

I'm visiting my father-in-law in Colorado, where this cozy-looking cat was recently reintroduced. I haven't been lucky enough to see one, but I have seen its smaller relative the bobcat on hikes in SoCal. (In fact I was considering making this a bobcat, but he was getting too fat and sassy.)

Secretary Bird

I want a secretary bird so bad!! Don't think it would get along with our cat, though.

Raven

Heya- Sorry for the lack of updates, I got sort of preoccupied. Among other things, I went to the Sierras and Death Valley with me folks. There, I saw many spiffy ravens. Ravens are possibly my favorite bird.

(I felt like the image needed something Christmasy, hence the festive-looking lichen.=p)

Black-Necked Stilt

Saw a bunch of these stylish-looking birds on my bike ride along Bellona Creek in LA. I am still in the mood to draw stilty critters.^^

Maned Wolf

Been gone for a while so I thought I should return with something weird, in this case the gorgeous South American Maned Wolf. (It's not really a wolf.)

California Quail

I recently received a lovely field guide to birds of the Los Angeles region and felt like drawing something both iconic and cute.

Coelacanth

Today is my birthday, so I was feeling kind of old. Here's something else that's old-

(Actually, coelacanths aren't all that old. Their kind has just survived in a similar form for a really long time. I mean, you could say the same thing about jellyfish. Coelacanths were, however, thought to be extinct, and then rediscovered, proving that there is life after 400 million.^_^)

A Mess of Animals to start with!

There were starting to get to be a lot of these and they were clogging up my main blog, so I moved them here. Now I will try to draw at least one animal a day in accordance with my mission statement.^^
