I recently received a lovely field guide to birds of the Los Angeles region and felt like drawing something both iconic and cute.

Coelacanth

Today is my birthday, so I was feeling kind of old. Here's something else that's old-


(Actually, coelacanths aren't all that old. Their kind has just survived in a similar form for a really long time. I mean, you could say the same thing about jellyfish. Coelacanths were, however, thought to be extinct, and then rediscovered, proving that there is life after 400 million.^_^)
